Airrays exhibit at Telecom Infra Project Summit ‘18 in London

As a distinguished member of the TEAC Germany Network, the Airrays team along with their Active Antenna, was happy to attend the TIP Summit in London on October 16th.A fantastic opportunity to break ground and gain insights from fellow innovators in the telecoms business. 

For inventive minds like us, developing cutting edge radio technology within the well-established telecom’s landscape can be a challenge. Fortunately, fellow believers in innovation such as the Telekom’s Ecosystem Acceleration Center (TEAC) are collaborating with us. Projects such as this provide us with a great platform and unique opportunity to break some ground and gain access to the industry and its players.

Airrays CTO Volker Aue and Head of Technical Marketing Albrecht Fehske were on site at the ExCeL in London for this year’s TIP Summit. A two-day event showcasing some of the newest technologies and business approaches driving change in the telecoms space. The new generation active antenna “Array 4264”, the fully vRAN compatible solution for the growing demand for wireless capacity, was exhibited on location. Furthermore, the Airrays team was invited to pitch our cutting-edge designs to industry peers and potential clients.

Airrays Exhibit at the IEEE 5G Summit Dresden

For the 3rdyear in a row, Airrays this year joined the wireless community at the IEEE 5G Summit in Dresden on September 25th. This time presenting the new generation of Airrays Active Antennas to academic experts, industry leaders and fellow innovators alike.

Jointly organized and hosted by the 5G Lab Germany and IEEE, the 5G Summit offers a strategic framework through which industry leaders and the academic community can collaborate and exchange ideas. The one-day summit is one of 11 international 5G Summits being held around the world this year alone and aims to address different aspects of 5G system design including silicon hardware, wireless, networks, edge clouds as well as tactile internet applications.

On site, the Airrays team exhibited the new generation active antenna “Array 4264”, it’s fully vRAN compatible solution to the growing demand for wireless capacity. Whilst our Head of Engineering Dr. Peter Meyer focused on exchange with his peers on emerging technology in the area of silicon hardware, CEO Dr. Wolfram Drescher provided valuable insights to network and cloud solutions in a panel discussion alongside industry and academic representatives.

Airrays selected to join Deutsche Telekom’s TEAC

22nd March 2018

Airrays selected as one of three startups to join Deutsche Telekom’s TIP Ecosystem Acceleration Center Germany.
On March 22nd 2018, Wolfram (Airrays CEO) and Albrecht (Airrays Head of Tech. Marketing) successfully pitched to a panel of experts from Deutsche Telekom (DT), Facebook, and the Telekom Infrastructure Projet (TIP). The panel subsequently selected Airrays to become a member of the TIP Ecosystem Acceleration Center (TEAC) Germany. With this membership we will receive access to DTs testing facilities as well as leading technology experts. Since fall 2017, we have been supporting DT in its Pittsburgh-based Living Edge Lab wireless testbed. Through TEAC Germany we now aim to further deepen our relationships with DT as well as with the entire TIP community.

Radio vendor of choice for Deutsche Telekoms Living Edge Lab

Airrays is proud to be the radio vendor of choice for Deutsche Telekoms Living Edge Lab.

On Feb 16th 2018, Deutsche Telekom, in collaboration with infrastructure partner Crown Castle, and vRAN solution vendor Altiostar, announced the extension of its Living Edge Lab (LEL), an ultra-low latency mobile testbed to three sites centered on Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Pittsburgh, PA, USA.
Airrays has been selected to provide radio hardware and support for the wireless test network consisting of three sites in downtown Pittsburgh.

EUCNC 2017

Oulo, Finland 12th – 15th June 2017

European Conference on Networks and Communications. As partner of the 5G-Xhaul (http://www.5g-xhaul-project.eu) project consortium, Airrays demonstrated a massive MIMO radio unit platform at the European Conference on Networks and Communications (EUCNC) (http://www.eucnc.eu) in Oulu. The demonstration was performed jointly with project partners ADVA optical networking, and Technical University of Dresden. EuCNC is one of several key events demonstrating the value of European research and innovation in the strategic domain of future communication and ICT services infrastructures. The theme for this year’s EuCNC has been “5G – European Roadmap, Global Impact”.


Mobile World Congress 2017

27th February – 2nd March 2017

Over the course of four days Mobile World Capital Barcelona will host the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry: Mobile World Congress, organized by the GSMA.

Over the last year, Airrays has made significant progress in product development. As a result, two of Airrays’ large scale antenna systems will be showcased at partners’ exhibition booths: Among others, an active antenna array supporting 3D beamforming and network densification use cases will be demonstrated together with Amphenol Antenna Solutions at Stand 7C70.

Airrays presents at the IEEE 5G Summit in Dresden

Press release: Airrays secures Series A financing

Dresden, 3rd November 2015

The German technology startup Airrays delivers adaptive antenna technology for 4G and upcoming 5G radio access networks to effectively address the growing demand for wireless capacity and reduce network total cost of ownership. Today, the company announced to have closed Series A financing round with DAH Beteiligungs GmbH to cover the full product development cycle.

Airrays develops a game changing radio antenna technology for mobile communication base stations. Instead of broadcasting a signal to a complete cell, Airrays’ radio units focus the radiated signal directly to the user leading to up to 10 fold better capacity and efficiency of a cellular system. The technology provides the only solution to address the capacity, efficiency and ease of use demands of network operators for the coming ten years. This new kind of base station antenna ultimately replaces current systems when the next generation mobile standard, 5G is deployed. Airrays antennas make use of hundred and more single antenna elements each equipped with their own transceiver and signal processing. With Airrays technology virtually any antenna pattern can be electronically shaped. This will be a complete paradigm change in deploying and operating cellular networks.

“For future 5G technology, we all need a breakthrough in antenna technology, covering massive MIMO and beamforming, and a lot of new spectrum for higher capacity and speed”, says Vodafone Ambassador Hartmut Kremling.

Airrays offering is well timed with the increasing demand for wireless capacity. Driven by the proliferation of smart phones, tabloids and new wireless services such as the internet of things, the data volume in cellular networks is doubling every eighteen months. On the other side the revenue of operators remains flat. Therefore, innovative solutions are required to provide more capacity without increasing cost.
